Observances on the 25th Anniversary of the 1990 Attempted Coup
One of the recommendations coming out of the Commission of Enquiry into the 1990 Coup was for Trinidad and Tobago to have on each anniversary of the Coup, a day of National Significance: a time of REFLECTION.
It is with this in mind, that the Culture Division has embarked on a few interactive activities today, Monday 27th July, 2015. There are live performances by our three Professional Arts entities: the National Steel Symphony Orchestra, the National Philharmonic Orchestra and the National Theatre Arts Company set to occur at NALIS, Port of Spain at 12-1pm and 4-6pm.
Additionally, the Remember When Institute will launch its first ever virtual exhibition entitled “The 1990 Coup: A Retrospective Exhibition.” These activities are launched with hope for deeper introspection, by the older members of society and for an awareness for the younger ones who may be unaware that this was a significant event in our nation’s history.
