Cultural Exchanges

Cultural Exchanges are key initiatives in the strengthening of diplomatic ties between Trinidad and Tobago and its global partners. Over the past 15 years, the Trinidad and Tobago Government has hosted cultural exchanges with delegations from China, India, Cuba, Costa Rica, Colombia, Uganda, Nigeria, South Africa and several Caricom States.

Our Cultural Exchanges are not limited to visual and performance elements  with their relevant workshops and masterclasses, but also include work in the areas of drafting agreements, policy development, bi-lateral meetings and treaty ratifications as a foundation to the establishment of Cultural Exchange programming.

Recent Incoming Cultural Exchange Projects include:

  • “Siparia to Soweto” : a Siparia Deltones Steel Orchestra project featuring the legendary Hugh Masekela
  • Rajasthani Folk Performing Troupe
  • Indira Naik and Ensemble
  • The Forbidden City Chamber Orchestra
  • Shakespeare’s Globe Theatre on Tour – HAMLET (2014)
  • Anhui Arts Troupe from China (2015)

Recent Outgoing Cultural Exchange Projects include:

  • Fiesta del Fuego (Festival of Fire) – Santiago, Cuba (2010)
  • National Steel Symphony Orchestra at the “Year of Aime Cesaire” Celebrations – Martinique (2013)
  • Carifesta XI – Suriname (2013)
  • National Steel Symphony Orchestra feature at 9th International Folk Arts Festival – China (2013)
  • Cubadisco – Havana, Cuba (2014)
  • Carifesta XII – Haiti (2015)
