Since “Treasures from the Hideaway” was publicly launched in February 2015, the Culture Division’s Cultural Research and Heritage Preservation Unit has hosted some special visitors. The exhibition has had a series of local school visits and visitors from as far as Guadeloupe, New York, Canada, Belfast and South Africa. The unit also welcomed visits from Barbados’ Minister of Culture, Sports & Youth and Directors and Executive members of their National Cultural Foundation, a group of Culture and Tourism stakeholders from Grenada and a group of staff from the Tobago Ministry of Community Development.

The collection of artefacts on display have been sourced directly from “The Birdie’s” personal archives and is a mixed, multimedia offering. Visitors can view a series of photographs, letters, newspaper articles, different competition crowns, costumes and over fifty trophies and awards spanning Sparrow’s career. Piped audio-recordings of some of Sparrow’s compositions  add to the exhibition experience.
