Our Recordings

Music needs to be heard, and rare recordings – from the days of Lord and Lady Iere, Beginner, Growling Tiger, Edric Connor , Andrew Carr (story of calypso), Daniel J Crowley, Allan Lomax and rare calypsoes form part of the audio-visual collection.

In addition to many these works the institute houses recordings of unpublished interviews with Daisy Voisin, Astor Johnson, Beryl Mc Burnie and Eric Drayton (origin of Steel band).

Recordings of the early ‘mouth bands’ as they mimic various types of music, documentation of Best Village Programs, interviews of kalinda and tapes of concerts, symposia, lectures, workshops, demonstrations, and other programs held by the Ministry responsible for the Arts and Culture are all held at the ‘Remember When Institute’
