Our Music

In the history of this vast and changing nation, every distinct culture has contributed its own music, using it to maintain identity and sustain community.

Yet music also creates a miraculous bond, a way to transform differences into understanding, a way to blend many diverse sounds into a music that is purely Trinbagonian. At the Ministry of the Arts and Multiculturalism, music and history are inseparable.

The music of a land is the soundtrack to its life. The Remember When Institute has dedicated itself to faithfully preserving our rich musical heritage for posterity. Music from every known local genre can be found and heard in the annals of its music section. These songs hold memories, tell tales, express emotions and capture moments in our history. The collection is vast, containing a wide cross-section of musical styles.
